I tested it in the demo: go to Admin-Panel and add permissions for Linking and Merging to demo user role (All Access). Then, go into any ticket and try to link or merge… the edit view shows up and you can find other tickets and drag n drop the parent / child link for instance (also the dialog for merging seems to be working). BUT: if you click on save it does not save the link / merge. When I add a parent ID in the database directly, I can see the linking functionality in the corresponding tickets (which is a brilliant feature). But any changes made through the UI are not updated in the database.

If you touch this topic anyway, please spend a couple of moments on the dialog’s elements (and check the ticket view): many of those new elements are positioned weird and do not look pretty at all.
After you found the ticket it looks like this:
And when added one or more tickets the drag ‘n drop Box looks weird, too:

We want to use the new functionalities. They’d be extremely powerful when they work.

Thank you for the detailed report. I am looking into this.

I have discovered that you can merge two or more tickets from the Open Tickets page. On my end this works in both osTicket and osTicket Awesome.

But as you’ve pointed out merging tickets from within an individual ticket doesn’t work. The page reloads and an error is recorded in the Apache logs. On my end this is true in both vanilla osTicket and osTicket Awesome.

Having said that, I would expect to find a discussion about this on the osTicket forum, but I do not.

Do you have a working vanilla osTicket installation? If so, please try merging tickets from within the Parent ticket and let me know whether or not it works on your end.

Found it! Known issue with osTicket.

Hopefully it will be resolved soon. But for now you can merge tickets from the queue pages.

Please note that the formatting issues you’ve pointed out will be addressed in the next osTicket Awesome release.

Thank you for your research on this. I knew it’s possible to also do a mass merge / link, but that’s not helping if tickets are not in the same ticket list.

Anyway, we’re looking forward to use the features when they’re ready. Nice stuff!
